Messaging Terms
Clear expectations for email, newsletters, text messages, chat, and enabled calling features.
1. Who is sending
Messages may be sent by Surflocal Media LLC about SurfLocal.us or by a business using the platform. The sender must be identifiable. Contact the business shown in a message about its offer, appointment, or conversation; contact contact@surflocal.us for SurfLocal platform questions or abuse reports.
2. Permission and message purpose
Senders must obtain and retain the permission required for the channel, message purpose, applicable law, and provider rules. Keep evidence of who consented, when, how, to which sender, and to what messages. Account creation, a public phone listing, a purchase, or an inquiry does not automatically authorize unrelated marketing texts.
Where automated marketing calls or texts require express written consent, obtain that consent separately and clearly. Marketing consent must not be presented as a condition of purchase. Verification of an email address is not a substitute for consent to every kind of communication.
3. Text messaging
When you opt into an identified text program, its enrollment notice should describe the sender and message types. Messages may concern the interaction you requested or marketing you separately authorized. Frequency varies with that interaction and the program. Message and data rates may apply under your mobile plan.
To stop a text program, reply STOP to its sending number or contact the identified sender with your request. For help, reply HELP where supported or contact the sender; SurfLocal assistance is available at contact@surflocal.us. Senders must honor revocation requests, including other reasonable methods required by law, and must not resume marketing without appropriate renewed permission.
Delivery is not guaranteed. Carrier filtering, outages, devices, and provider restrictions may affect delivery. A carrier is not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages. Notify the sender if your number changes or is reassigned.
4. Email and newsletters
Marketing email must accurately identify the sender, use truthful subject lines, provide required postal contact information, and offer a usable unsubscribe method. Senders must honor opt-outs and check suppression records before future campaigns. Service, verification, and appointment messages must not be used to disguise unrelated advertising.
Use a marketing email's unsubscribe option or contact its sender to request removal. An unsubscribe request may leave a limited record of your preference so the sender can avoid contacting you again.
5. Chat, calls, and recordings
Chat messages and business replies may be retained as conversation history. Availability of browser calling or other phone features depends on account and provider settings. Do not treat these channels as emergency services.
A sender or business must provide notices and obtain permissions required before recording, transcribing, or using automated or AI-generated voice interactions. These terms do not represent that those features are enabled or supply consent to recording by themselves.
6. Prohibited sending and privacy
Do not send spam, impersonate another sender, use stolen or unauthorized contact lists, evade opt-outs, rotate identities to avoid suppression, or use misleading verification messages. Business users must follow the Acceptable Use Policy and the rules of their communications providers.
Mobile opt-in and consent records must not be sold or shared for third parties' independent marketing. See the Privacy Policy for platform information handling. Posting these terms does not replace consent collection, suppression enforcement, or provider registration.
